Spokes 3 & 4

2.9 miles + 1.4 miles to start and finish at Explore BoA (Tourist Information).

This walk is on spokes 3 and 4 of the Bradford on Avon Walking Wheel, linked by a short section the outer circle. The directions follow the route in a clockwise direction.

The spokes are waymarked with blue roundels and the outer circle green.

It's a more or less level walk which passes alongside the River Avon, through some delightful woodland and down an old track.

The walk starts at the end of Mythern Meadow and heads SE across fields close to the River Avon following the blue waymarkers of Spoke 3.

After passing the Sailing Club you enter Widbrook Woods (Wiltshire Wildlife Trust) by a gate and footbridge. Pass the willow pond then soon climb up a short slope & a few steps to meet the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath.

Turn right and follow the canal to bridge no.170 over the A363 Trowbridge Road. Leave the canal path to turn left across this. You are now following the green waymarkers.

Follow the Trowbridge Road SE for about 300m to the sharp bend where you'll see the sign for the hotel. Cross with great care and head straight down the lane over a wooden footbridge into a field which you  cross diagonally right to meet Rowden Lane. Now follow the blue waymarkers of Spoke 4 which takes you back NW towards Bradford on Avon and Sainsburys (cafe)!
