START & FINISH: What3Words rectangular.faces.tadpole
6.5 miles on OS Maps.
You follow the orange waymarkers for the entire length of this walk; they will guide you clockwise or anti-clockwise, whichever you prefer.
The route starts and ends at the junction of Bridge Street and St Margaret's Street at the Library end of the Town Bridge, opposite the world famous Bridge Tea Rooms.
The walk is on a mixture of tarmac and short, unsurfaced paths, two short sections of canal path and pavements. It passes through the delightful Strips Woods above Greenland Weir, past the Tithe Barn and over the Medieval packhorse bridge.
If you are lucky you may see a heron or kingfisher on the cnaal or when you cross the River Avon.
There are a couple of steep climbs around the walk, on steps and roads and you will be rewarded with really good views of the town and beyond over to the Salisbury Plain.
You will pass a number of places to stop for refreshment, and several children's play parks, one with a water bottle refill station at Sladesbrook.
Wherever you are on the walk you're never more than a mile from the town centre.
