Adult £5 incl. transport. - 11 miles, bring picnic lunch

Date: Sunday 8th September

  • Start Time: 09.00

  • Distance: 11 miles

  • Duration: 7 hours incl. minibus journey there and back

  • Difficulty: Demanding

  • Places: 14

  • Start Point: Explore BoA, Westbury Gardens BA15 1DE (W3W: thud.forced.issuer)

  • Leader: Peter Bird

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the stated start time, to allow for registration and briefing and may we remind you that we have an ‘assistance dogs only’ policy.

Please bring a picnic lunch, plus snacks and plenty of water for the other refreshment stops. If the weather is particularly warm, as it can be this time of year, we recommend bringing at least 2 litres of water.

The minibus will take us to the start at Marshfield, a 20 minute journey.

This will be a great opportunity to enjoy a big slice of countryside that few tourists get to experience, as we’ll use local knowledge to explain and thread our way across the Cotswold landscape. It’s an undulating, linear, all day walk at a steady pace in the Southern Cotswolds passing through some stunning countryside. There is one steep climb, some stiles and stretches of fairly uneven ground.

Once we’re out of Marshfield we’ll join the Limestone Link walking route through the delightful St Catherine's Valley to Batheaston. Crossing the River Avon we’ll walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath at Bathampton then climb the tramway to join the Bath Skyline Walk. Crossing Claverton Down we’ll descend Brassknocker Hill to Dundas Aqueduct from where the minibus will take us back to BoA, a 10 minute journey.
