If the weather is particularly warm, as it can be this time of year, we recommend bringing plenty of water.

Freshford is a fascinating village; it lies partly in Wiltshire and partly in Somerset in the Frome Valley. Most walkers pass through it without stopping for long, so this is a great opportunity to find out more about the history of this popular community from a local, very knowledgeable Freshford resident.

The walk will start with a climb out of Bradford on Avon then through quiet country lanes and across fields, skirting the village of Winsley. As we pass high above the Avon Valley we’ll get a great view across to Freshford to see how it settles in the Frome Valley.

The walk will drop down in to the Avon Valley, crossing first the River Avon then the Kennet and Avon Canal at Dundas Aqueduct. A climb then takes us through Limpley Stoke, across fields to Freshford Station then into the village itself, where we’ll eat our picnic lunch.

After lunch we’ll be given the guided tour of the village then return to Bradford on Avon through the Avon Valley, alongside the river and canal.

    Booking from 1st August
