The Coal Canal, built between 1795 - 1805 to export coal from the North Somerset Coalfield, played a significant role in the early industrial revolution of the Avon area. This walk will explore evidence of the former canal and examine the geography, history and geology of this fascinating area.
You will need strong, waterproof footwear and a small torch. Walking poles would be helpful if you have them.
Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and plenty of water.

Distance: 3 miles

Duration: 4 hours

Grading: Moderate: a half day walk, there will be stiles & steps to negotiate, some steeper gradients, a faster pace than an easy walk. Stopping regularly for points of interest.
