After an introduction to the Shrapnel family, Helen will lead you to various locations in the town which are not only significant to the family history, but also the built environment today.

The main walk will then start, heading south along Rowden Lane followed by fields to Oxstall Farm and Midway Manor, Henry Shrapnel's childhood home and the location of his explosive activities. After a summary of Henry's life and legacy, the walk will continue to Westwood and Lye Green,  descending to Barton Farm Country Park for the return alongside the River Avon to the town centre.
