SA4: THE MOULTON LEGACY

from £2.00

Adult £4 / U16 £2 - 3 miles

Date: Saturday 7th September

  • Start Time: 13.30

  • Distance: 3 miles

  • Duration: 3 hours

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Places: 15

  • Start Point: Explore BoA, Westbury Gardens BA15 1DE (W3W: thud.forced.issuer)

  • Leader: Alison Reynolds

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the stated start time, to allow for registration and briefing and may we remind you that we have an ‘assistance dogs only’ policy?

If the weather is particularly warm, as it can be this time of year, we recommend bringing plenty of water.

The afternoon will start with a 3 mile walk around Bradford on Avon to visit points of interest connected to the Moulton family, one of the most important and influential families in the history of the town. This will involve a fairly steep climb up to Tory to savour a great view of The Hall, the Moulton family home and to get a sense of where it fits in the heart of the town yet surrounded by trees.

The walk will finish in the grounds of The Hall where a local enthusiast, who is also a Trustee of the Alex Moulton Charitable Trust will give a potted history of The Hall. This will include the development of the UK rubber industry, which started in Bradford on Avon and the iconic, small wheeled, Moulton bicycle.

N.B. This is not a tour of the interior of The Hall or the Moulton Cycle factory.

    Booking from 1st August
