SA5: Bats on the River and Canal - A Discovery Walk

£5.00

Cost: £5

Date: Saturday 6th September

Start Time: 19.30

Distance: 1 ½ miles

Duration: 1 ½ hours

Difficulty: Easy

Places: 20

Start Point :Explore BoA, Westbury Gardens BA15 1DE

Leader: Alison Raisey (Ecology Officer Wiltshire County Council)

Description: Our leader is Alison Raisey who has led this walk on every one of our Walking Festivals to date. We will only be walking about a mile and a half alongside the K&A Canal and River Avon. Much of the time will be spent looking and listening and the bat detectors (provided) will help us to identify each species of bat we come across; in past years we have identified seven different species. Young people really enjoy this walk.

Much of the walk is after dark so it would be helpful to bring a small torch; it would also be wise to wrap up as we are near the water and it can be chilly in September. This is always a very popular walk and sells out quickly. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Grading Easy: mainly level route, a comfortable pace, no stiles to negotiate , up to about 3 miles. Regular short stops are included.

Booking from 1st July
