A circular walk around the town with one climb to build up your thirst.

Helen will start with a brief history of brewing in the town before walking up St Margaret’s Street then St Margaret’s Hill to visit sites of pubs long gone.

After admiring the view across the town, the walk will continue along Regents Place and the Fitzmaurice School footpath to Barton Farm - the site of the first malthouse and brewery. The route crosses Barton Bridge to reach Newtown, another area associated with brewing.

Taking in the views from Conigre Hill, Helen will proceed to the "top of town" before descending Whitehill to Silver Street, Market Street and Church Street; three areas rich in brewing history with plenty of pubs although sadly many no longer exist.

And then, it's time to finish the evening with that well earned pint, or whatever tipple you prefer.
