Bradford on Avon Walkers are Welcome
The historic town of Bradford on Avon is
set in the beautiful Bristol Avon Valley, on the south eastern edge of the Cotswolds AONB. It is
often referred to as “The jewel in Wiltshire’s crown” and has been a Walkers are Welcome town since 2011. It is the perfect place for a day out, a short break or a walking holiday, with walks to suit all ages and abilities.
What does being a Walkers are Welcome town mean?
Walkers are Welcome is a network of over 100 towns and villages across the UK. They have come together to help people enjoy the outdoors through walking. Membership of the network helps to ensure that our footpaths and facilities are maintained in good condition to benefit local people, our many visitors and the local economy.

Walks and Maps
To help you plan your walks there is a range of useful material that can be obtained from Explore BoA (formerly Tourist Information) in Westbury House Gardens, by the Town Bridge. These include books of walks, leaflets and maps, including our very own Walking Wheel maps.

The area shaded darker green, to the North and West of Bradford on Avon is the Cotswold AONB. The South Western corner of BoA just sneaks in!
Walking opportunities
The MacMillan Way and the Kennet and Avon Canal pass right through the town and you can now enjoy any number of walks on our clearly waymarked Walking Wheel.

What we do
We organise two local walks every month which are open to anyone who would like to join us. We also hold an annual Walking Festival during the first weekend of September. We maintain the Bradford on Avon Walking Wheel and liaise with BoA Town Council and Wiltshire Council to help to look after local footpaths.
