FR3: SECRETS OF BROWNE'S FOLLY

£4.00
SOLD OUT

Adult £4 - 4.5 miles

Please note the start time is the time we leave so please arrive 10 minutes beforehand for registration & briefing.

Also, we have a ‘no dogs except assistance dogs’ policy for all our walks.

This is a tour and series of short talks exploring the area around Browne’s Folly, a SSSI site between Bradford on Avon and Bath. The minibus will take you to the start of the walk in Monkton Farleigh and return you to BoA from The Crown pub in Bathford.

We’ll start on today’s nature reserve, including the valuable calcareous grassland, diversity of rare bats and the impact of ash dieback.

Then we will view the rocks deposited in the Jurassic period and discover why mining of these rocks has been so important in buildings around Bath. We’ll also learn about how the abandoned mines were used in the Second World War.

Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
